In an exciting new initiative, we will be working with selected schools in North Yorkshire to spread warm and well messages to both children and their parents and carers..
Children aged between 5 and 11 will enjoy a series of assemblies and classroom activities to learn about energy efficiency, the problems arising from living in a cold home and actions that can be taken at home to save energy and make homes warmer. There are a whole range of resources that can be used with schools.. They will be introduced to characters such as the Evil Dr Freeze, the Zombie Penguins and Secret Agents Warmly and Wellby from our specially designed ‘Cold Comic’.
Due to coronavirus NYCC’s Carbon Reduction Officer, Peter Bell (aka Power Down Pete), has developied a website of online resources based on the WWNY Cold Comic. To help children understand the dangers and benefits of having a cold vs. warm home, and to help them understand small actions they and their families could take to make their own homes warmer. There are a whole range of resources that can be used with schools to These can be accessed here: http://coldcomicnorthyorks.org.uk/
